Hiking - Walking: Bawdsey Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods then rain !!! Max Speed: Distance Covered: 6/7 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
We had three kids to look after and I wanted to have a walk along Bawdsey
Beach on the off chance that the board I lost yesterday hadf been washed up
- a longshot I know !!! We then had to decide how to get there, drive the
30+ miles or go across on the ferry at Felixstowe Ferry, we decided it
would be more fun on the ferry :) so we packed our picnic and parked at the
Ferry and took the boat on the short trip across the River Deben - the kids
loved it :) it was the first time they had been across. We set off on our
walk to Bawdsey Beach along the footpath as the tide was high but soon got
to the corner where the water whizzes past. We walked along the sea defence
wall and got splashed by the waves and then stopped by a couple of small
boats on the beach for our picnic. It then rained on us and we used our
raincoats as tents !!! We the kids happy messing about in the sea, paddling
and throwing bottles in the sea - sadly there are hundreds washed up :( I
ended up walking all the way to East Lane Martello Tower and was gone an
hour !!! but no sign of my board :( We set off back to the ferry and got
soaked to the skin !!! the kids loved it :) We then had to wave the white
paddle to attract the ferry man !! We stopped at the Spar for cake and then
went home to dry out - a nice trip :)
